As an educator, I aim to foster a learning environment where students understand theoretical concepts and critically apply them to analyze real-world social phenomena.
In higher education, students are exposed to a vast array of literature, and it is essential that they connect new theories and concepts to lived experiences. While learning involves the natural process of connecting different pieces of knowledge, teachers play a pivotal role in guiding this process and facilitating deep learning. Particularly, their role is critical in a classroom with students of diverse backgrounds, knowledge levels, and motivations.
My teaching philosophy revolves around promoting analytical thinking that is grounded in theoretical literature. To facilitate this, I use interactive tools and methods, such as games, role-plays, group discussions, and audiovisual materials, to engage students with different learning styles. I have applied my philosophy while co-convening two International Relations modules at the Bachelor's level and giving more than 10 guest lectures on international relations, environmental politics, and East Asia politics at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels in Belgium, Sweden, and South Korea. Below is the list of teaching courses and lectures.
